Biography
Steve first became interested in photography at age 13 when he and his father built a darkroom in their basement. He started taking pictures of his family, their cats and anything around that he found interesting. While in high school, Steve began to work on the yearbook and particularly enjoyed photographing sports. This developed into a love of photography and a career which has offered a much appreciated solitary lifestyle. A professional photographer since 1989 Steve originally started out in architectural photography and captured the unique personalities of structures in the northwest United States. He enjoyed working with his regular clients and helping them bring life to their building and home designs. He began to want more, however, from his career and decided to expand into a more personal and artistic form of photography. In 2010 he began to focus on aerial photography and started using a 50’ tripod to capture images a bit higher than can normally be seen and then printing these images onto canvas. He stumbled across a cradle that could hold a camera suspended from a kite on the internet, and he now has 2 kites and a cradle for his camera which allows the viewer to see these amazing landscapes from a much higher perspective. Presently, he finds himself printing his images on metallic paper to further enhance the luminosity of his pieces. They are then displayed in custom created floating frames. |
