The Aerial Perspective
Unique, captivating, wonderous...there
are many adjectives that can be used to describe this most intriguing
viewpoint. See, there's another one. If I had to use just one,
I would use the term "unique". It just isn't a viewpoint
that we often get to experience. Unless you're a pilot, airline
passenger with a window seat, or maybe a bird, we just don't
get up in the air that often. I also don't feel that you have
to go very high, to bring the surroundings into a more intimate
relationship with the main subject. Most of my aerial landscape
fine art photography is from 30-50 feet in the air...that's
it, no more!!! It doesn't seem like much but you can see for
yourself, the image below is from 44 feet in the air. So for
me, it just brings a new, exciting element into my landscape
photography that I can show and share with others.
Why the Panoramic format?
Most of my aerial landscape photography
is in the panoramic format. I believe it is the way that we
naturally see the world around us. Traditional camera formats,
35mm, 6x7, even large format 4x5, I feel have a tendancy to
box us in visually. Creates that "tunnel vision" so
to speak. At least it does for me, and right now I'm only speaking
for myself. The standard traditional format captures just a
small piece of the scene. Now I'm not saying those traditiional
formats are wrong or bad, I use them myself, I just feel the
landscape is brought to life when photographed in the panoramic
format. Even more so when the aerial element is added to the
mix.
So I hope that I've helped in describing
what it is I do, and maybe even answered the question why. That
is, if anyone was curious. You will find many examples of aerial
landscape photography in my galleries.
You will also find examples of architectural photography, golf
course photography, and many other samples of fine art photography.
All of my photographs are for sale as fine
art, can be licensed for commercial use, and intended to be
enjoyed by all.
Most importantly, to all who have purchased
my photography in the past, planning to purchase my photography
in the future, or just enjoying it at the moment, I say thank
you....for without all of you out there in the world,
there would be no one to share my photography with. Please
enjoy!!!
